Mental Health Matters: Addressing Mental Health for Teachers
Course Description: This workshop is designed to address the critical issue of teacher burnout by providing effective strategies for managing stress and promoting mental health in the workplace. Teachers will learn about the warning signs of burnout and explore various techniques for enhancing self-care and preventing burnout. They will also learn about mental health resources and supports available to them in the workplace. The workshop will provide a safe and supportive space for teachers to connect, share experiences, and collaborate on best practices for promoting positive mental health in the teaching profession. Through interactive discussions, self-reflection, and practical exercises, teachers will gain valuable tools to help address the challenges of burnout and foster mental wellness in their daily lives.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the warning signs and causes of teacher burnout and fatigue.
- Learn effective strategies for promoting self-care and preventing burnout.
- Explore resources and supports available for mental health in the workplace.
- Foster an understanding of the importance of mindfulness and wellness in the teaching profession.
- Gain an understanding of practical strategies that minimize job stress and increase job satisfaction.
- Develop a network of peers for collaboration and support.
Course Format: The workshop will be conducted as a half- day or one-day seminar, consisting of interactive discussions, self-reflection exercises, and practical activities. Small group discussions and pair work will be encouraged to promote peer-to-peer learning and collaboration.
